Willingness and readiness to act independently and show initiative is important because:

Acting independently and showing initiative enables individuals to deal with difficulties more actively, for example, with stressors, unemployment, career changes etc. However, it is important that the pressure to initiate should not be a burden and stressor itself. For many people instead of chasing after life, it is principal to let the life come to them and they would act genuinely and authentically in response to what the life brings.
